The Westchester Ice Hockey Officials Association, Inc. was formed in 1974 as a not-for-profit corporation by members of the local officiating community and has been operating continuously since then.

Our mission is to provide the local ice hockey community with the highest caliber brand of officiating available for whatever their needs may be.  We do this by recruiting and training interested officials and by demanding the best from every official on our roster.  We stress integrity and commitment to the association and those we serve.  WIHOA officials pride themselves on knowledge of the rules and their fair application to ensure safety and fun for all participants in every contest.

WIHOA is one of several local chapters of the National Ice Hockey Officials Association and a member of the Congress of New York NIHOA Chapters.  As such, all WIHOA officials are NIHOA members.  Additionally, our officials are required to be registered and certified by USA Hockey.

WIHOA supplies officials to local youth hockey teams and leagues sanctioned by USA Hockey and, by agreement with the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, WIHOA officials work all public high school ice hockey contests within Section One which consists of Westchester and Putnam counties.  WHIOA also provides officials for local college and private school contests as well as adult recreational leagues and tournaments.

WIHOA is governed by its Board of Directors.
